Parkway Cottage Resort FAQ, Frequently Asked Questions try to answer any questions you may have about our cottages or area.
What time is check-in?
Check-in time is 3:00 pm. We do not do early check-ins or late checkouts. These are two and three-bedroom cottages and when people leave the cottages are not always left in the condition we would like; so we will not make promises we cannot keep.
We have had instances in the past when the people coming in at 3 pm have had to wait while we affect repairs and finish cleaning the cottages before we dare rent them out again.
LATEST CHECK-IN TIME IS 8 PM, please arrange with management if you need to check-in later.
What is Check out time?
Check out time is 10:00 am as we must prepare the cottage for incoming guests.
What happens if we can't arrive until very late at night?
For anyone arriving after the office closes, please let us know ahead of time, check-in no later than 8 pm.
Are guests allowed? NO
As of the 20th August 2016 renters or people staying in a cottage at Parkway Resort will no longer be allowed to have visiting friends or families on the site
If you have friends or family camping in the park, visiting for the day or staying in other resorts and you wish to meet with them you will have to do it elsewhere off-site.
It is not fair on paying registered guests* who are insured having to put up with people who are not registered guests and are using our facilities and equipment to the detriment of other cottage renters who have paid for the privilege. *Booked in at the time of arrival
In 2016 this became intolerable with people who were staying elsewhere (on one occasion ten people) supposedly visiting for dinner or lunch and staying all day depriving other guests of the use of the dock, beach and watercraft.
This rule will ensure that renters will get what they pay for and that we do not have to increase our charges to pay for the extra Internet use, gas cylinders, heating water for non-paying guests using showers and pumping septics etc.
There will be NO exceptions to this rule so please do not even ask.
Are there grocery stores nearby?
Yes, we have a store with the basics i.e. bread, milk, eggs, pop, ice cream, tinned foods etc also we have a Trading Post with Canadian gifts too.
Huntsville is 20 minutes away and has supermarkets and a larger LCBO with a Vintage section.
Are there restaurants nearby?
There are many restaurants during peak season ranging from a roadside diner to elegant dining, all within a 30-minute drive.
What about smoking in the cottages?
The majority of our guests favour a non-smoking holiday environment, we have therefore introduced a no smoking policy within our cottages.
If it is evident that there was smoking in the cottages (including bathrooms) a $300 recovery fee to cover the cost of restoring the cottage to a smoke-free condition will be levied.
What happens if I check out without sweeping up etc or doing the washing up?
A charge may be applied to your credit card to cover the cost of excessive cleaning.
Is there a noise Bylaw?
Behaviour that infringes on other guest enjoyment of their vacation will not be tolerated.
Excess noise-making, partying, loud music or otherwise creating a nuisance may result in being asked to leave.
After 11:00 PM is quiet time.
Can we have an outdoor fire?
There is a safe area at the beach and by cottages 1, 2 & 4 for evening fires. You will have to purchase firewood at the store on site.
Is ice available?
All units are equipped with refrigerator and ice trays. Extra ice can be purchased from the store.
Will we have to bring bed linen/towels etc?
The accommodations are fully equipped for all your likely holiday requirements. All linens, dishes, and cutlery are included.
A small initial supply of dish soap and toilet paper rolls etc. are provided. We do not supply towels.
Where can pets stay?
WE DO NOT house PETS OR ANIMALS of any kind, There are several fine kennels in the area.

How far away is Algonquin Park?
Algonquin Park is only a 6-minute drive to the West Gate.
Is there additional parking areas for cars and trailers?
Yes, we have a large property and if you require additional space for trailers or extra vehicles we should be able to accommodate you BUT PLEASE LET US KNOW !!
How is the fishing?
In the Spring we fish for trout and in the summer Small mouth bass are the prize.

Is there Hot water in the cottages?
Yes, all our cottages have Hot and Cold water which is safe to drink and wash in as it is tested.
Are we on a lake and do we have a beach?
Yes, we have a natural sandy beach with boat dock and diving raft on Oxtongue Lake.
Cottages 7 and 8 are located right on the beach with all our other cottages just a short walk from the lake.
Where is Parkway Cottage Resort?
We are located on Hwy. #60, 6 minutes west by car of Algonquin Park West Gate. We are approximately 35 kilometres east of the Town of Huntsville, and 2 1/2 hours north of Toronto. We are on the right side of the Oxtongue Lake bridge which allows our guests water access to Oxtongue Lake & Algonquin Park.
What facilities are located at Parkway Cottage Resort?
We have a Rec Hall with satellite TV, Ping Pong, Dvd's, Games, Table Football open from 9 AM TILL 9 PM.
Also, we have our own beach, playground for the kiddos, Basketball net, Canoes, Kayaks, Paddle boards, Paddle boats and Horseshoes. Our resort highlights the natural beauty of its’ surroundings, Algonquin Provincial Park is our playground, and we don’t intend to compete with it.
When is housekeeping and maintenance done?
There is a 4 ½ -hour period between check-out and your check-in during which each residence is thoroughly cleaned. Linens changed and inventory checked. Ground maintenance is continuous and major repairs are done twice a year when the facility is closed or operating at minimum capacity.
Can I bring a boat?
No boats over 12ft. Prior arrangement needs to be made with us, for boats under 12, as we do not have the dock space, To dock a boat 12ft and under a $50.00 charge will apply.
Can I swim in the lake?
Yes! It is some of the cleanest water you’ll ever swim in. The current is slow and we boast a natural sand beach on the resort side.
Is Parkway Resort safe?
Respect nature and the wildlife that lives in it and you will be safe. We make sure the grounds are spotless to ensure the animals do not picnic with us. There is so much wildlife, admire it, respect it, and you will have no problems.
What if we have a medical emergency?
There is a volunteer fire department with paramedic capability within 7 minutes of the resort.
Huntsville Hospital is less than half an hour away and also has an air ambulance (helicopter) capability.
All regular medical needs such as walk-in clinics, dentists, pharmacies are within a half-hour drive, in Huntsville.
